Fionnuala McGowan

Fionnuala McGowan is a Belfast-based multidisciplinary artist working across printmaking, photography, film, installation, and creative education. She studied Fine Art: Painting and Printmaking at the Glasgow School of Art and completed an exchange at the École nationale supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris.

Her practice explores how humans experience and navigate space, drawing on ideas around the instability of perception to create imagery and installations that blur the boundary between the real and the illusory.

Her contributions to printmaking have earned her the Glasgow Print Studio Prize and recognition in Printmaking Today. In 2015, she co-founded Mobile Print Studio, promoting accessible printmaking through pop-up workshops, and later established Make Space Studio in Belfast to support community-focused creative learning. McGowan has undertaken residencies in Scotland, Belgium, and Athens and has exhibited widely across Europe.

Her work is held in the permanent collections of Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum and Glasgow Print Studio.
