Rory O’Loughlin

SpungeCake is an evolving project that explores how immersive digital technologies can support nano-learning and creative wellbeing. Building on real-world testing during his residency at DAS, Rory’s project develops “Little Learning Experiences” that reduce anxiety, support focus, and create moments of recovery within creative environments. Rory is developing immersive prototypes using audio, projection, and XR technologies that embed nano-learning into both artistic and applied contexts. The project is now progressing from early experimentation into real-world application, supported by my first client engagement, and seeks to deepen its impact through further technical development and collaborative exploration.

SpungeCake explores nano-learning as a way to support focus, confidence, and engagement. Through my work, I aim to develop accessible creative systems that help individuals—particularly those who may feel overwhelmed or neurodiverse—reconnect with learning, creativity, and themselves.
