Karen Daye-Hutchinson

During the DAS Home Residency, Karen aims to develop an ambitious new body of interdisciplinary work that brings together film, dance, sound, projection and printmaking. Building on her established multimedia practice, this project will explore movement as a visual language, investigating themes of memory, identity, resilience and the traces left by lived experience.

Karen is a multidisciplinary artist working in etching, hybrid printmaking, book art, sculpture, and more recently film and installation. Her work reflects an interest in habitat, history and literature.

Karen is an elected member of both the Royal Society of Printmakers London and The Royal Ulster Academy, Northern Ireland. Karen studied Fine Art at Belfast, Manchester and MFA at Central Saint Martins, London. Karen’s extensive exhibition list of solo and group exhibitions, both national and international, include Venice, Germany, France, Luxembourg, America, Canada, Japan, New Zealand, and India.

In 2018 Karen was invited to join the prestigious Prism Print international collective of Master Printmakers.  She was the artist in residence fellow at Empreinte Atelier De Gravure, Luxembourg in 2019, was awarded the 2022 fellowship at Scuola International di Grafica Venice from the RE-Royal Society of Printmakers and the inaugural winner of the Anita Young Bursary at the RUA annual exhibition at the Ulster Museum.
