Catherine Chapman
Catherine Chapman (b.1994, London) is an artist working primarily with moving image. Her work is concerned with attention and the condition of experience mediated by screens.
Experiments with other formats, particularly painting, performance and writing, extend from the central moving image practice. Extreme close up, simulation, multiple image planes, archival materials and shifting surfaces are common motifs appearing in her videos. She often depicts a chaotic, subjective perspective in a computer generated environment associated with mathematical precision.
She holds an MA in Computational Arts (Goldsmiths) and a BA in Animation (University of Westminster). Her work has been shown by platforms including The Wrong Biennale, 180 Studios, Mira Festival, Matadero, The Bomb Factory, Metal Arts and The British Film Institute.
Residency Period: December ‘25 - March ‘26
