New Audio Equipment available for hire

January 23rd, 2012

Just new in this week and available for hire from only £15 per day* is the

RØDE NTG2 Audio Kit

The RØDE NTG2 is a lightweight condenser shotgun microphone, designed for professional applications within the film, video, television and production industries. A hugely popular condenser shotgun microphone designed for professional audio capturing in the field or indoors. Rode has implemented low noise output electronics and wide bandwidth, both of which attribute to the NTG-2′s broadcast sound quality.

The super-cardioid polar pattern and line plus gradient acoustic principle effectively minimize audio and noise at the off-axis (sides) of the microphone, while the front of the capsule accurately reproduces incoming audio signal. The result is greater intelligibility and signal-to-noise ratio when using the NTG-2 in noisy environments.

The NTG-2 is powered with an internal 1.5V AA size battery or an external +48 Volt phantom power source. The output is a standard 3-pin XLR male connector.

The microphone features a rugged, all metal, lightweight enclosure that is ideal for camera mounting yet durable enough to withstand the rigors of heavy road use.

The kit includes:

  • Rode NTG2 Shotgun Microphone
  • Rode PG2 Pistol Grip and Shockmount
  • Rode Telescopic Boompole
  • 5M XLR cable
  • Rode WS6 Windshield

January 16th, 2012

Cherith Brown & Andrew Healy: Tuesday 24th January at 1pm

Laura Graham & Jenny Sharratt: Thursday 26th January at 1pm

Talks are free of charge and all are welcome. A light lunch will be provided, however places are limited so please book by emailing angela@digitalartsstudios.com or telephoning 02890 312900

Cherith Brown works mainly with video and her recent work deals with her old high school building just weeks before it was demolished. The work highlights the dialectic process between the persona of the student and that of the artist. Particularly the problematic of dealing with memory without the seepages of nostalgia and sentimentalism. She is interested in the formal qualities and peculiarities of the mundane. Recently her work was screened in the QFT as part of ‘Contemporary Art and the Moving Image: 2′ programme. She is currently studying for her MA in Film and Visual Studies at Queens University.

Andrew Healy has recently completed a Masters in Digital Media from NCAD after previously studying Illustration at Edinburgh College of Art. Multi-disciplinary in nature, his practice is mostly concerned with the psychological effects of technology in our everyday life. During his time in Belfast, he has created a smartphone application using GPS to turn the geography of Northern Ireland into a territory of contrasting colours while also responding to sites of recent political conflict.

Laura Graham is a multimedia artist and filmmaker based in Belfast. Originally from Scotland, she has exhibited at the Edinburgh International Festival, London, Germany and Australia. A former solicitor, she works in a variety of media, depending on subject and context. Awarded first class honours in fine and applied art from the University of Ulster combined with a Diploma in Arts Abroad following a year’s international placement at CoFA, UNSW, Sydney, she is currently on the board of PS2, Artist in Residence to the Linen Hall Library in Belfast and writes a column for VAN.

Jenny Sharratt was born in Larne and is an emerging artist who is a recent graduate of the University of Ulster. A mother of one Jenny made the decision to return to study as a mature student to fulfill a lifetime ambition to become an established Irish artist.  Jenny works in video and photography installations. Her work is embedded in nature and often explores the relationship between science and form juxtapositions in modern contemporary spaces. Jenny’s video installations bring organic forms into urban spaces and environments taking the viewer into new realms of consciousness.
